Pursuing an education in Canada is a transformative journey that opens doors to world-class learning and future career opportunities.

What is it?

A study permit (often referred to as a student visa) permits international individuals to pursue education in Canada at an approved learning institution (DLI). Canada ranks as one of the leading global destinations for international education, making study permits some of the most frequent immigration applications

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Have an acceptance letter from a recognized Learning Institution (DLI).
  • Submit evidence of adequate financial means to cover tuition, living costs, and travel expenses for return.
  • Demonstrate they will exit Canada upon completing their permitted duration, unless they change to a different status
  • Establish strong ties to their home country (family, employment, property, etc).

Work While Studying:

  • The majority of students can work up to 20 hours each week while classes are in session and full-time during planned breaks.
  • Recent policy adjustments (temporary measures) might permit additional hours in certain situations.
  • Partners of students are eligible to apply for open work permits

Post-graduation Pathways:

Upon completing their studies, students might be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), enabling them to acquire work experience in Canada. This experience can subsequently be utilized to apply for permanent residency via;

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC) within Express Entry
  • Programs for Nominated Provinces (PNPs)

Application Process:

  1. Initial Consultation and Assessment – Assess your eligibility, goals and the best immigration pathway.
  2. Gathering Documents – Gather and review all required forms, financial proof, and supporting documents.
  3. Application preparation– Complete forms, draft submissions, and prepare a strong cover letter.
  4. Submission: File the application online with IRCC and receive confirmation of receipt.
  5. Biometrics and Medicals– Provide fingerprints, photos, and medical exams where required.
  6. Decision– Receive an approval (visa/permit issues) or refusal
  7. Arrival in Canada– Present your documents at the border and begin your settlement.
